Tiernan is a two-way power forward with a nose for the netfront. Dependable on the defensive half-wall and willing to take or make contact to make a play. Good vision and IQ, poised with the puck in tight situations in all three zones. Above average footspeed, and uses size well to drive the netfront on offense. Penalty killer and can play all 3 forward positions.
