TBirds Announce New Goalie Coach: Sergey Luilchuck

The Colorado Thunderbirds are thrilled to announce the addition of Sergey Liulchuk as their new goalie coach. Liulchuk brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization, having played and coached at the highest levels of hockey.

Born in Ukraine, Liulchuk represented the Ukrainian National Team in 2017 and has played professionally in both the ECHL and Sweden. He holds a Master’s degree in Physical Education and Sport from the National Ukraine University and served as the Ukrainian National Team Goalie Coach in 2021. Liulchuk has dedicated the past six years to exploring and mastering various goalie development systems, earning certifications in both Sweden and the USA.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Sergey to the Thunderbirds family,” said Jordan Pieturs, Director of Hockey Operations. “His extensive playing and coaching background, combined with his passion for goalie development, make him an invaluable asset to our organization. We are confident that he will have a significant impact on our goalies at all levels.”

Liulchuk’s coaching philosophy emphasizes a blend of technical skill, tactical awareness, and mental fortitude. He has worked alongside renowned goalie coaches like Ian Clark (Vancouver Canucks), David Alexander (St. Louis Blues), Stefan Persson (Swedish National Team), and Hannu Nykvist (Finnish Goalie Coach). He has also provided on-ice instruction to notable goalies such as Evan Cowley (EBEL).
