NHL Training Camp Opens, Features 15 TBirds

Colorado’s largest professional hockey alumni base dots the National Hockey League yet again as the league’s opening night looms October 7th, 2025 after NHL Training Camp closes.

Fifteen former Colorado Thunderbird hockey players have been invited to participate in NHL Training Camp skates spanning North America. Camps opened this past week in mid-September and will run through October 4th. The NHL season kicks off October 7th, 2025 with a nationally-televised triple-header that begins in Sunrise. The Florida Panthers (Seth Jones, Nolan Foote) will host the Chicago Blackhawks (Aidan Thompson). The middle slate features the Penguins and Rangers. The late matchup is between the Los Angeles Kings (Isaiah Saville) and the Colorado Avalanche.

The list of former Thunderbirds players on camp rosters is as follows, in alphabetical order of NHL-affiliated team:

The Colorado Thunderbirds are Colorado’s premier Tier-I youth hockey organization.

The TBirds have 30 NHL and NHL-drafted alumni, 130+ NCAA Division-I players and 300+ Tier-I and Tier-II junior rostered players (USHL, USNTDP, WHL, OHL, NAHL, BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, EHL). The club has 33 Colorado State Championships, 10 Rocky Mountain District Titles, two 16U USA Hockey National Championship Runner-Up finishes, and claimed the 2010 16U National Championship.
